Microsoft Taking Notes from Iran

Microsoft takes a play from Iran's play book. What progressive thinking!

Microsoft (MSFT) is threatening to hold open-source software hostage similar to how Iran held several British sailors a few weeks ago.

The two cases have several similarities, the main one being, that it would be foolish for Iran to harm these sailors or Microsoft to harm the open-source movement.

Microsoft has recently been trying to cozy-up to open-source, but their recent announcement that open-source violates over 50 of their patents is hopefully a publicity stunt.

This appears to be an effort to look benevolent when they inevitably disregard the violations, just like how Iran looked when they eventually released the sailors.

Everyone with half a brain knows Iran would have been sent into the stone-age if they harmed the sailors, and Microsoft would be doing even more damage to itself by taking down dozens of open-source programs that power most of the internet.

We know you are bluffing, Microsoft, even you guys can not be that stupid.

Microsoft is getting soft !!!

I agree Luima, and think they got soft years ago when they became a blue chip and monopoly.

Right now i believe Google is still in the process of getting soft, but can still turn the ship around.
